Renascence IT Consulting is a Managed Service Provider serving the Bay Area that has been reducing risk, increasing productivity, and boosting the bottom line of businesses since 2010.
Mal Warwick Donordigital (MWD) is a prominent public relations agency established in 1979 assisting nonprofits across the country with direct response fundraising, advocacy and marketing services. With about 65 remote employees, the agency advocates for social and economic justice, environmental action, fairness in the workplace and excellence in client service, as well as giving back to the community.
01 The Problem
The agency has continued to grow over the years. With that growth it increased the complexity of their IT infrastructure. They had not taken the time to see what was no longer useful. The agency works with a variety of clients and vendors and needed a way to simplify the management and costs of doing business. They also needed help complying with evolving and complex privacy regulations, and the risks associated with these changing times.

02 The Solution
Renascence IT Consulting started as a co-managed solution to support MWD on high-level projects and technology strategy with their onsite system administrator and their IT director, who retired soon after. After the system administrator left, Renascence became their full-time technology provider, helping to serve in the capacity of both the CIO and system administrator roles. Kirk and his team mapped out a near- and medium-term strategy to reduce MWD’s reliance on outdated technology assets and practices. Renascence IT is replacing MWD’s existing, poorly performing file servers with modern, enterprise-grade, cloud-based content storage technology. This enhancement will allow MWD employees and clients to access content directly, thereby eliminating their current obsolete servers and networking technology. This will be completed without any new operational expense due to the retirement of at least eight of their existing servers, including all the computing technology in their Washington, D.C., location.
03 The Result
Renascence IT’s plan is to provide substantial improvements in daily operations, a much lighter technology asset load and risk, and significant operational and capital cost reductions. Employees and clients will be able to access all of their content, wherever they work, avoiding error-prone, unreliable VPN connections and insecure, cumbersome file transfer processes. The new file storage platform will also integrate with many other LOB applications. MWD IT infrastructure is more efficient with its improved design, delivering more comprehensive, timely client reports.
