Renascence IT Consulting is a business technology partner serving the Bay Area that has been reducing risk, increasing productivity and boosting the bottom line of businesses since 2010. Established in 1978, J & J Air Conditioning is one of the largest HVAC service companies in Silicon Valley, providing preventive maintenance and the design and installation of custom systems for nearly 900 commercial and industrial buildings. With approximately 60 employees, they are headquartered in San Jose, Calif.

01 The Problem

In 2016, J & J Air’s server was hacked by ransomware. While they eventually recovered most of their files without paying a ransom fee, they recognized they needed a better IT service to prevent that from happening again. Also, because their domain was set up incorrectly, what should have taken employees a minute to log into their system took about 10 minutes.

02 The Solution

J & J Air hired Renascence IT in 2016 to fix that problem and continue to work with them on monthly standards and quarterly business reviews. Over a weekend, Renascence IT rebuilt a whole new network and connected it to each user’s machine. “Even though the fastest route would have been a migration,” said Renascence IT president Kirk Lesser, “things eventually would have popped up that wouldn’t be easy to fix. That’s why we chose to do a complete rebuild to permanently solve the problem.”

With 25 domain users logging in an average of three times a day, the new login speed saves them more than 11 hours a day. There also have been no security issues.
